I absolutely cannot STAND this family. I think it's horrible what they're doing to their children - turning them into parentified adults.

They actually have to fill in a schedule just to get 5 minutes alone with mum or dad that's not discipline, or very meager education.

I really hope that a couple of their kids make it out okay - because I highly doubt they will. With all that land they live on, and the claims that they will all marry and live next to one another, I have a feeling that the next generation of the Duggar children will end up marrying each other out of desperation and seclusion.

I saw the show with the Duggars. Not one part of it was cute or enjoyable.
This family baffles me. Perhaps it's because I was an only child (and am very glad I was) and because of my beliefs.
I actually believe people should not have children, which I'm sure this family, others like it, and other people cannot understand.
First off, women are not cows. We don't HAVE to have babies.
I also believe there are too many people in the world. It's not that the world is over populated- it's not. However humans, particularly those in countries such as America, China, etc. create so much waste (ex. trash, pollution) that it's having a negative effect on the Earth's condition. The more people there are, the more communities are going to have to expand, the less room there is for the "natural world".
Each one of those children has a potential to create more people. It's families like the Duggars who really make me mad.

With that said, I find value in every living human. Even though I don't believe in what the family is doing, I know children are a blessing.

But there still isn't a need to have THAT many. Come on people…

Why not adopt a child in need (who is already living and in existence) instead of creating more human beings?
A child needs a family! Adopt instead.

I wonder how many couples try being quiverful and just cannot afford to keep having more children. Has anyone ever read a news story or research study about this topic - who succeeds at being quiverful and who fails, in a financial sense? A success story like the Duggars is newsworthy for The Today Show - but what about the quiverful families who are struggling, maybe on the brink of financial collapse? Not all quiverful families can be a success story. It simply isn't possible. Who are the barely-getting-by families? Would they even be willing to be interviewed, for fear of discouraging others who are considering being quiverful?

Many things can be handed down - clothes, toys, books, cribs, etc. But many things cannot - food, glasses, braces, medicine, doctor/dentist visits, laundry soap, toilet paper, and more. So no matter how much you scrimp and save and share, there's a minimum amount that must be spent each month. And with enough children, eventually you have to rely on other people. Even the Duggars, with all their money and planning and organization, need the woman who helps with their laundry. In theory, if everyone who could be quiverful was quiverful, there would be far less neighbors with time on their hands to help with the laundry. At what point is your quiver crammed?

If anyone can point me towards a news story or study regarding the financial demands of being quiverful, I'd be interested in reading it.

Population is a preoccupation for many Quiverfull believers, who trade statistics on the falling white birthrate in European countries like Germany and France. Every ethnic conflict becomes evidence for their worldview: Muslim riots in France, Latino immigration in California, Sharia law in Canada. The motivations aren't always racist, but the subtext of "race suicide" is often there.[6]

Saw this on Wikipedia. This may mean that the Duggars are racist, I have also heard a lot of KKK members talking about how great they were and how all the white women need to have kids like Michelle so we can rid the world of minorities. I am going to do some more research though.

oh the problems!

I think they should not get any of the attention that they are getting. This forum and other duggar/quiverfull forums should not exist. They get too much media coverage. The world is over populated and turning into a wasteland. All becuase of these stupid people who think God wants them to fuck this planet up in his name. Don't put words in God's mouth. God does not want his beautiful planet destroyed. He wants everyone to be in peace and loving eachother and appreciating the kids who are allready here. He wants people to stop the wars and He wants people to help animals and appreciate them too. Jesus is crying as he sees his teachings being cheapend by the dozen. He will return and he will be mad at all of you for ruining his teachings.

Mom's freind was a quiverful mom, her kids struggled and three of them ended up being taken away. The family fell apart and the mom killed herself. These familes act all innocent on TV but they beat thier kids when off camera. Mom mom's freind beat an 8 month old with a metal rod right in front of me I was held down by her husband as me and my brother were forced to watch it, I broke free and I stopped her when she tried to do it the second time. But at church these people were the most innocent people you can imagine, perfect clothes, hair, teeth, pressed and polished sunday people, but the rest of the week they acted like the devil's spawn. They had "bible beatings" where if the kid did not recite a part in the bible right that night they would get beaten with a stick with jesus on it. They were not allowed to eat that night. Thye had to sleep in a timeout room that was dark and only had a hard rubber pad on the floor. My mom withdrew thier freindship (they were only friends for 6 months) but the first time we spent the night at thier hell house they endeed it by seeing how true they really were.

If you have proof that the Duggars are abusing their children, don't post it here on this forum, that won't help anything, you should go to Arkansas CPS and tell them what you know. Otherwise you could be accused of aiding and abetting criminal activity. If you don't have any proof, and your comment is nothing but a generalization of what you may have witnessed growing up, then please don't make such untruthful statements.

The Mom dugar

Post  Dawnh59 on Sun Oct 26, 2008 6:27 pm

I have noticed that the Mother does not come to her children when they are distressed. They remind me of the polygamists. I realize they SAY they are faithful, but the Mother especially does not care for her children. I understand that to a degree, but not when a child is lost, whicch one was at an airport. I also understand that you have to have help when caring for so may kids, but I find it offensive that they keep having kids. I think they should have stopped a long time ago. I don't get it, the world is over-populated as it is.

The Duggars, and the Bates, are the most horrible families I've ever seen. Have you ever seen a house that can fit 20 people inside?? The answer: No.

And just because they have the biggest family ever, doesn't mean that they have to follow the horrible Christianity. Why would they name all there names starting with "J" just because there father has.

And they only watch TV on Sundays just to catch the church shows because a church can't fit some horrible largest family.

Agreed- adopting is better than birth. You can't just leave a child in the adoption agency, but since when you're adopting, it means you're her mom forever, so I think owning a foster home is way better.

I don't like this family.

Post  aalsey on Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:32 pm

I don't know whether this family is breeding children or an army. The parents dress their children in uniform clothing effectively denying them the individualistic right to choose how they dress. Their parents home school them so that they don't get to learn the world's ideology without their own ideas overshadowing them in a negative light. Even their names all start with J's. The poor kids just sound like numbers to me. How could they each get the love and attention that they require from their parents? I am one of three and my parents find a hard time balancing their love and attention with work and everything else they have to do. I just think the Duggars are not a family but an army of breeders with old fashioned ideology and little acceptance of their surroundings. When they should have focused on bettering society by producing a small intelligent family embracing acceptance. Maybe I'm just an atheist, who puts too much faith in science/evolution, and believes in just being a good person without using coping mechanisms and negative reinforcement, but I'd rather have a family focused on loving their children they have then a family who is trying to build a conservative religious army.
