Breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding?
I am also curious about how Michelle Duggar has fed her children as infants. Breastfeeding does not provide a 100% reliable form of birth control, but the chance of getting pregnant is decreased while breastfeeding. As all of Michelle's children have been born so close together, I was wondering if she breastfed any of them, and if so, for what period of time? As people who seem very in tune with allowing human biology to run its course (i.e. not use contraception), it seems that they would also want the nutrition God made for newborn children--mother's milk. Neccessary exceptions aside, breast milk is best for the baby, hands down, and also is beneficial to the mother. And, it goes without saying that breastfeeding is FREE! Does anyone have any insight into this topic? Will we know more when the new baby arrives?

Remember that the Duggars do not practice birth control. They did early on, but after her miscarriage (and learning about how certain methods can still result in pregnancy, followed by miscarriage) they elected to no longer do so. They are very open about this on their website.

Yes, I understand that they do not practice birth control, but I guess my question is: do they consider breastfeeding birth control? Would they elect not to breastfeed solely on the basis that it makes getting pregnant less likely, even if God intended for babies to be breastfed when possible?

Re: Breastfeeding?
I do believe Michelle breast feeds. It's been said several times that she nurses, is either preganat or nursing. Though like most of us, she probably starts to wean the babies from it at around 7 of 8 months as they start eating solid foods more. And while breast feeding might reduce changes of getting preganat again, it only reduces, not prevents. Michelle tends to get pregnant again 8-15 months after the birth of the last.
I'd definitly guess that the babies are eating more solid food and less breat milk by 8 months.

Re: Breastfeeding?
Given that Jim Bob and Michelle have been asked dozens (if not hundreds) of times whether they plan to have any more children, and the answer is always that they would like to have more if God so chooses, then I doubt that they consider breastfeeding (or anything else, for that matter) to be a form of birth control.

Once a baby's no longer exclusively nursing the chances that mama can get pregnant again increase. The Duggars may not view breastfeeding as birth control but it does function as such in a sense.

Breastfeeding
I found this article which is from years ago when James was just born and it mentions the breastfeeding issue and here is what is says "Since the birth of 8-week-old James, Michelle has had a particularly difficult time breast-feeding. Every two hours she's in considerable pain, but it doesn't seem to affect her countenance."
